who is behind kumi?

KUMI is our story,
born from two restless souls
destined to meet and create the project of their dreams.
On one side of the pond is Sergio, a guy from Veracruz, Mexico, whose passion for soccer and adventure led him to Barcelona for a master's degree. While he claimed to be "broadening his horizons," we all know he secretly hoped to bump into Messi on Las Ramblas. Meanwhile, on the paradise island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean, there was Alexandra, whose entrepreneurial spirit had defined her since childhood. Her family would often say, "this girl is always looking to do business." And they weren't wrong.
Fate wanted us to meet in Barcelona, at one of those "my boyfriend's cousin is coming over" dinners. And boom, sparks flew. So much so that we started a long-distance relationship between Mexico and Spain that could have fueled several seasons of Netflix. The travels began, getting to know each other, learning that tacos aren't that spicy and it's not all paella and sangria... until one day, amid laughter and a couple of extra beers (or tequilas), it came up: "Hey, what if we start something together?" So we decided to create a joint project, but not just any project, a whole life together.
And that's when the monumental mess began.
Where to live? When to move? What to do with our jobs?
Well, we did what any sensible person would do: we threw caution to the wind and moved to Barcelona, the city that witnessed our spark. We settled in a neighborhood we didn't know, in an apartment that was more experiment than home (those of you looking for rentals in Barcelona will understand the drama), and we went for our dream: to live our passion and bring something unique and valuable to society.
We told ourselves: if we're going to take this leap of faith, why not do it with something that really excites us? What we love are sneakers. We always wore comfortable sneakers, ready to embark on any adventure, and we loved stopping in stores to discover the latest releases. We could spend hours debating the latest launch from any brand, because for us, it was the most thrilling topic in the world.
And so, almost without realizing it, amid laughter, fears, and the occasional existential crisis, KUMI was born. From our passion and the desire to create something straight from the heart. But we didn't want just any sneakers, we wanted ones that reflected our values, that were outstanding:
